Coaching Announcements

For those who were not present at the B&F / presentation night, it is a great pleasure to announce that the Club has re-appointed Rick Watts as senior coach in 2010. The committee could not have been happier with Rick’s efforts in 2009 and has absolute confidence in his ability to deliver on-field success in 2010 and beyond.

The committee would also like to thank both Patty Higgs and Jordan O’Neil for their efforts as assistants to Rick in 2009. Patty will not continue in this role in 2010, having decided to concentrate on playing. Jordo is yet to confirm whether he will be able to dedicate the time to continue in this role – but will confirm this in the coming weeks.

It is with also with tremendous pleasure that the club can announce it has appointed Kieran O’Dwyer as Senior Assistant Coach (playing) for the 2010 season.

Kieran has a wealth of football experience, having spent two years at Hawthorn after being drafted in 1991. Since then, he has played in four senior premierships at various clubs – the details of which are summarised at the bottom of this email.

Kieran is particularly excited about the prospect of working with our young list of players, in particular with the current crop of U18s that we hope will graduate to senior football in 2010. In conjunction with Wattsy, Kieran will assist with specific development work for smaller groups of players during training sessions.

We are very pleased with this appointment and feel that it is the first step towards what we believe will be a very successful year in 2010.

The club is seeking applications for a non-playing senior assistant coach, reserve coach, U18 coach and Club 18 coach.
